Mic’s shop/studio is located in Grand Rapids Michigan. This is where Mic creates his sculptures, paintings and Mold Making.
Brief Bio
For the past 12 years I have been working with a local non-profit group Instruments of Hope. We are building a sculpture garden on a protected green space a few miles from downtown Grand Rapids. This healing garden is free to the public. It is barrier free for the disabled. I am the founder, sculptor and volunteer fundraiser. Help gardening and help take care of site maintenance.
I have had 4 major exhibitions in Italy showcasing a collection of bronze and paintings.
I owned and operated my own 2 art galleries in downtown Grand Rapids for a total of 15 years. I have also had galleries in Saugatuck, Michigan.
I have many public paintings throughout Grand Rapids and have worked for many private collectors.
I’m an inventor working with many industrial casting and woodworking materials.
I am a professional mold maker, working in silicones and plasters, plastics and urethanes.
I maintain my own website and social media.
I do professional restoration work on broken sculptures, paintings, old frames and reproductions.
I am an acting board member at the Sweet House in Grand Rapids
I donate year round to many charitable organizations.
Mold Making
Mic Carlson has been a Mold making for more than a decade. Mic primarily uses a Platinum cure silicone, also called addition cure silicone, are two-component high tear strength and flexible mold or casting compounds. They are recommended as a mold material for casting polyurethane, epoxy, or polyester resins, wax and a wide range of other casting materials.
